Full house for The Devil's Whore at RTS

The Devil's Whore won in all of the three categories it was nominated in at last night's RTS Programme Awards, making it the most successful programme of the night. Andrea Riseborough and Peter Flannery scooped Best Actress and Best Writer respectively, and the show also picked up the gong for Best Drama Serial.

The judges stated that Andrea Riseborough gave "...an absolutely riveting performance, maintaining centre stage even amongst huge battle scenes", and that Peter Flannery had delivered "...an ambitious and passionate narrative of a vital and under-represented period of history, which thrillingly meshed imagination with painstaking research". Overall they felt that The Devil's Whore was "...bloody and brutal but equally inspiring and atmospheric...an exciting, muscular drama on an impressive scale. A joy to watch".
