In the coastal town of Moonfleet in eighteenth century Dorset, orphan John Trenchard (Aneurin Bernard) dreams of the infamous Blackbeard’s treasure – and the wealth and happiness it will bring him. John’s search draws him in to the dangerous company of local smugglers, led by the charismatic Elzevir Block (Ray Winstone).
When Elzevir and John are falsely accused of murder and have no choice but to leave Moonfleet they go in search of Blackbeard’s treasure, little knowing what dangers and adventures await them – and whether they will ever see their home again….
